25th Anniversary of Margarita Monday! This week we had to pick some where special and the Original El Chaparral in Helotes, Texas was exceptional. The Mexican Medicine is a must try for any margarita aficionado. Expert or not this place just northwest of San Antonio is a perfect place to bring those out of town guests looking for a real ” Tejas” experience.  Thank you too all who joined us this night and any of the previous episodes. Another Monday has come and here we are at Matamoros off I-10! Seemed to be mostly the veterans of Margarita Monday showed up this week and our ratings show that. Week after week of sampling some of the best margaritas Texas has to offer our pallets linger for something stronger. The price is right (especially on Tuesdays) but the pros of Margarita Monday weren’t too impressed. 2 out of 5 limes.

Join us in our Margarita Monday crusade to find the perfect margarita – this week at Tomatillos on Broadway. This Mexican restaurant is a San Antonio classic and is known for its margaritas grabbing the 2008 Current Buzz Award for “Best Margarita”. The Cadillac Margaritas on Monday are 4 dollars – a lot of bang for your buck. If you missed the event, be sure to check this place out in your own time.

We actually rated this overall experience the highest so far in our Margarita Monday expedition! Not only did we all give the margaritas nearly five limes (most gave FIVE), we also had phenomenal service and enjoyed the atmosphere and architecture at Canyon Cafe. This place is definitely a must-see in San Antonio, especially because of its location inside the old rock crushing warehouse of the quarry.

This week’s Margarita Monday takes us to a Houston favorite relatively new to San Antonio; Lupe Tortilla. Found just north of 1604 in the Evans H.E.B. shopping center Lupe Tortilla is known in Houston for some of the best Mexican food around. San Antonio has welcomed Lupe with open arms and stretched out glasses. The hefty pours of the house on the rocks margaritas might keep you from ordering more than two but you won’t hear any complaints form the crew of Margarita Monday! 4out 5 limes!
